It’s been a LONG week for Blue Moon Botanicals. Unfortunately, the main problem I wanted to tackle this week, so far has not been fully overcome; shipping methods. I have to wonder, what the best shipping methods are out there and what my customers want the most? I’m always open to suggestions.
Usually, when I shop online, I prefer to have my order shipped via UPS Ground. This way I know I will get it between 3-5 days roughly and I know about what time as well. Unfortunately, shipping UPS these days can be a costly venture for my customers! Phew! Who wants to pay the prices that come up when you can ship for the same amount of time at a fraction of the price via USPS?
Here is where my usual dilemma lies however; being an online consumer myself, I understand how important it is to those shopping to have shipping rates available on the checkout screen, usually before you check out. This way, you can decide whether or not to comparison shop. If I try to offer more than just UPS when checking out of Blue Moon Botanicals, the customer will most likely be unable to find “real time stats” as to what their shipping cost will be before checkout.
I have yet to find a solution to this problem but am working on it. I strive to offer quality products at affordable prices along with decent shipping and that extra personal touch. Now, it’s back to work on shipping…..

Below the Bible Belt
Below the Bible Belt -
A funny thing happened the other day. The realization dawned that about 60% of our orders in the last month have been shipped to, yes you guess it - below the Bible Belt. This may or may not be strange to some, but I felt it noteworthy nonetheless. Think of the reasons, the possibilities.....for starters, many people who are practicing Pagans for starters or those just interested in a more healthy, green lifestyle may not have shops near them to shop at and so they shop online.
The flipside of course to this argument is also that all the people in states like New York and California have such a plethora of stores to choose from already, that one more added into the mix doesn't always make the headlines right away.
And so, here I sit (in Chicago) awake at 1:00 a.m. (not unusual for me) just thinking I should put that thought into the void.
So tootles, dear void and if you have friends that shop the web - tell them to stop on by to Blue Moon Botanicals...because not everything can be learned in a book. www.bluemoonbotanicalsny.com

Hello friends,
Well, it was a good weekend for Blue Moon Botanicals. We received our biggest order yet and also sold some bath salts. You would think that more people would want to buy bath salts, but I guess that maybe they are not as popular as they used to be.
The herbal pillows are still in their early stages, but I’m hoping to work on them more after this week. Our most popular tea lately seems to be the “Chill Out Tea.” I guess most people feel they need to relax more than usual! Fine by me and I’m glad it’s such a hit.
At Blue Moon Botanicals, our teas are more than just herbal tea that we hope to help with medicinal ailments; we want to make them taste good as well. Obviously we’ve been able to accomplish this and always look for feedback. We can’t make better what we don’t know needs working on.

Congratulations, Obama!
Yes, We Can!
Amazing. So much more can be said, but what more needs to be said? President Elect Barack Obama. Right now, I sit at my computer, writing this while watching the local news channels, with their continuing coverage of the election, still wiping the tears and flattening the goosebumps from Obama's acceptance speach, as I try to calm my nerves and realize that America is not only ready for this change, but they made it known as well.
Congratulations, President Elect, Barack Obama!! America needs a change and we will hopefully see that over the next 4 years, at least.
I don't feel anymore needs to be said tonight. I write this through the business and I realize that my opinion may not mesh with everyone else, but I do not discriminate against ANYone's opinion and accept all schools of thought.
To each thier own.
(But, Fantastic, Obama! Fantastic! :-)

New Year - Slightly New Business
Hello to all!
It's a New Year (for Pagans anyway) and the business, Blue Moon Botanicals, is still slightly new....so off we go!
Lately, the site has been stalled, so it's time to start working on new products, adding new text to the site and doing our best at Do-It-Yourself SEO (Search Engine Optimization.) This ought to be fun. You see, it would cost a couple grand to have "the professionals" work on the website and see it rise in the Search Engines, like Google, Yahoo! and MSN. As a small business, smaller than most, the budget isn't there to go through "the professionals." Our budget is mostly for our products – which is good news for our customers, but only when we can get them to the site.
Next month, we have three teas that will be coming out and are currently being worked on. The herbal pillows are still getting the "kinks" worked out but look forward to them in the months to come.

Herbal Pillows
August 24th,
Herbal Pillows were the task for yesterday and boy was that task met. Hours were spent getting together diffrerent kinds of fabric and cutting them into the correct sizes and shapes. Each of these pillows, when ordered, will be filled with herbs for the ailments they seek to ease.
For example, Lavender and Chamomile, at least, will be put into an herbal pillow for sleep. Working with herbs is such a joy and to now be able to use the knowledge of herbs to help others is even better.
